1. THE CLIENT'S WISHES

1. THE CLIENT'S WISHES

The client wanted a logo that represented their name. Aegir is the “Lord of the Ocean.” He has a wife and 9 daughters and resides at the bed of the sea. The client wanted different variations of blue-green for the sea and the colors of gems and coral.

2. INSPIRATION

2. INSPIRATION

Since “Aegir” is the Norse name for the mystic lord of the ocean, I researched Norse art and found a lot of symmetric knots illustrations like to this one.

3. QUARTER SYMMETRY

3. QUARTER SYMMETRY

I masked the image in illustrator to make a tracing reference in quarter-symmetry since I don’t have the freehand abilities of vikings and don’t really understand knots.

4. THE TRACING PROCESS

4. THE TRACING PROCESS

I used the Pen Tool for tracing. I added mermaid elements as a reference to the ocean. Mermaids probably do yoga, right?

5. CREATING SYMMETRY

5. CREATING SYMMETRY

I copied my illustration pasted three times to create the four sections of my design which I rotated accordingly to recreate the knot.

6. BASE DESIGN

6. BASE DESIGN

Connected the sections together and began the layout and coloring process. This is the first draft of the Aegir logo design.
